Jatiya Party office in Lalmonirhat set on fire
  Date : 10-07-2025

The district unit office of the Jatiya Party (JaPa) in Lalmonirhat was gunned down in a fire after a group of unidentified individuals set it ablaze late Saturday night.

According to police and eyewitnesses, around 15 to 20 people arrived on eight to ten motorcycles at approximately 11pm and broke the locks of the office, located at Alorupa Mor in the district town. Before setting the premises on fire, the attackers reportedly looted valuables from inside.

Local residents, fearing the fire might spread to nearby shops, rushed to the scene and managed to control the flames before they could cause further damage.

Alamgir Hossain, general secretary of the Lalmonirhat municipal unit of JaPa, said the office was already engulfed in flames when party members reached the spot after being alerted.

The identity of the attackers remains unknown, and the incident has been reported to senior party leaders. The area remains tense following the arson.

Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur Nabi stated that police responded quickly after receiving the report and have launched an investigation to identify those responsible.
