Child drowns in Patuakhali pond

A child died after drowning in a pond at Dashmina upazila in Patuakhali district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shiplu Khan, 5, son of Mamun Khan of Uttar Arojbegi village under Sadar union in the upazila.

According to locals, Shiplu drowned in the nearby pond while playing and catching fish.


Later, family started searching, found him floating on the pond, rescued him and took him to Dashmina Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Dashmina Sadar union reserved Union Parishad (UP) member Salma Begum confirmed the incident.
