Two major rallies will be held in Dhaka on Sunday (August 3) to mark the July uprising. Chhatra Dal holds a rally at Shahbagh intersection from 12 noon to 6PM to mark the first anniversary of the July-August uprising, mourning and victory.
Meanwhile, National Citizen Party (NCP) is set to hold a mass rally at Central Shaheed Minar at 4PM and the central leaders will formally unveil what they term `Manifesto of a new Bangladesh` and press for a legal settlement of the July Charter by August 5.
Besides, the 36th July cultural fest `July Jagoran` is being held at Suhrawardy Udyan from 10AM to 10PM every day from August 1 to 4, organized by the Saimum Art Group.
Centering the political rallies at Shahbagh and Shaheed Minar, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued some traffic guidelines to avert gatherings on streets:
Hotel Intercontinental Intersection: Vehicles from the north should avoid heading straight toward Shahbagh and instead turn left via Hare Road/Mintu Road.
Katabon Intersection: Westbound traffic should avoid Shahbagh by turning right toward Nilkhet/Palashi or left toward Sonargaon (Hatirpool) Road and Banglamotor Link Road.
Matsya Bhaban Intersection: Traffic from High Court/Kadam Fountain should use Hare Road or Shaheed Captain Mansur Ali Avenue instead of heading toward Shahbagh.
Kakrail Mosque Intersection: Northbound vehicles should bypass Shahbagh by continuing toward Gulistan or Dhaka University via High Court.
TSC/Raju Sculpture Intersection: Vehicles from Nilkhet or Doel Chattar should avoid Shahbagh and use alternative nearby routes.
Roads near Shaheed Minar and Suhrawardy Udyan: Commuters are advised to avoid these roads unless necessary.
