  Evacuation of 4 sawmills, seizure of accessories

Our Correspondent : The mobile court has raided the Jowarianala market of Jowarianala range under Cox`s Bazar North Forest Division and evicted 4 sawmills with illegal timber. During this time, illegal timber and sawmill machines and accessories were also seized.The operation was conducted under the leadership of Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Joarianala Bazar area of ??Ramu Upazila on Thursday (December 19). Meanwhile, 4 illegal sawmills led by Salah Uddin, Abshar Kamal, Nurul Kabir and Abdul Karim were evicted.

Jowarianala range officer KM Kabir Uddin said, four sawmills built illegally in Jowarianala market area were removed with the joint cooperation of the administration and forest department. Illegal wood and other parts of the sawmill have been seized.Meherghona Range Officer Reaz Rahman, Ramu Thana Police, Special Patrol Team members and Jowarianala Range staff were present in the operation.
Md. Maruf Hossain, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox`s Bazar North Forest Division, said that the forest department is alert and cautious in protecting forests and forest resources. Regular operations are being conducted against forest and sand traders.
He also said that 4 illegal sawmills were raided with the help of Ramu Upazila administration for setting up illegal sawmills and a case has been filed against the involved sawmill owners. We take appropriate action against encroachers. He called for cooperation by providing information to protect forests and forest resources.
