  Govt declares 10-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday

The interim government has announced a 10-day holiday on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Council held at the Secretariat on Tuesday (May 6).

The announcement was later confirmed in a post from the verified Facebook account of the Chief Advisor`s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam.

According to the post, government offices will remain open on Saturdays, May 17 and May 24, to compensate for the extended holiday.

The post also noted that the Cabinet has approved the draft of the Cyber Security Ordinance 2025.

During the last Eid-ul-Fitr, a nine-day holiday was observed from March 28 to April 5. Initially, the government had declared a five-day holiday, with an additional day added later through an executive order. Ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, March 26 was a public holiday marking Independence and National Day. Offices remained open for one day on March 27 in between the holidays.
