Sylhet Correspondent : Aiman Ahmed is hailed from the village Gordona Kandi of Kanaighat Upazila in Sylhet district. He has been staying in the UK for more than two and a half years. Aiman Ahmed has been associated with the politics of Chhatra Shibir for many years. There are allegations of attacking and looting at the house of Aiman. His aged father (66) Habibur Rahman was seriously injured in the attack. The heinous incident took place on Monday last (May 12).

The expatriate suffered a loss of around Taka 13 to 14 lakh (1.3 to 1.4 Million) in the incidents of attack and looting. The miscreants looted Gold ornaments, cash-money, TV sets, and other valuables from the house. A reliable source informed that the attackers were from the BNP and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists.

Locals believe that the attack on the home of UK-based Shibir leader Aiman Ahmed and his family was due to the sequel of previous enmity, village politics, and political rivalry in the area.

Habibur Rahman`s son Aiman Ahmed had been holding important positions in the Islami Chhatra Shibir while he was staying in the country.
Maulana Kamal Ahmed, Ameer of Kanaighat Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami, said that during the Fascist Hasina`s rule, a false and conspirational case was filed against Aiman Ahmed for his involvement with the politics of Islami Chhatra Shibir. He was attacked several times. But, even after the change in the political scenario after August 5, such violence continuing in his house is regrettable. He strongly condemned and protested the incident and demanded exemplary punishment for the criminals.

According to the victim`s family, some seven to eight miscreants by covering their faces, suddenly entered into the house and attacked inside by hurling and blasting Cocktails. The musked attackers ransacked various furniture of the house and fled by looting Gold Ornaments and the cash money from the house. Habibur Rahman (66), father of the expatriate Aiman Ahmed was seriously injured in the attack.
The incident has created a huge sensation in the area.
Soon after the incident, the family members of the victim went to the local police station to file a complaint but the police did not pay heed to them. As a result, they returned to their house and are now suffering from insecurity. A tense situation has been prevailing in the area following the incident.
