US approves sale of nearly 3,500 cruise missiles to Ukraine

The United States has authorized the sale of 3,350 air-launched ERAM cruise missiles to Ukraine.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the weapons are expected to arrive by the end of this year.

Citing two anonymous U. officials, the report revealed that the missiles, with a range of up to 280 miles, could be delivered within the next six weeks. However, Ukrainian forces will need Pentagon approval before deploying the missiles.

US President Donald Trump recently commented that Ukraine would have little chance of winning the war unless it can strike targets within Russia. He also criticized the Biden administration`s unconditional military support for Ukraine.

Since the start of 2025, Ukrainian forces have been losing ground to Russian advances and are facing challenges in replenishing their troops. In light of this, Trump stated in July that NATO`s European members would need to cover the costs of additional weapons sent to Ukraine.

Key European allies of Ukraine, including France and Germany, have already backed sending more arms as part of future security guarantees for the country. Meanwhile, Russia has warned that continued Western military aid is a major obstacle to peace talks.
