Admission test results for proposed Dhaka Central University published

The results of the undergraduate admission test for the proposed Dhaka Central University (DCU), comprising seven government colleges in the capital, have been officially published for the 2024-25 academic year.

The announcement was made through a formal notification signed by the university administrator and Principal of Dhaka College, Professor AKM Elias, on Tuesday, August 26.

The admission test, conducted under the newly proposed university framework, marks a significant step toward the establishment of DCU as a unified academic institution.

Eligible candidates can now view their results by logging into the official admission portal at admission.dcu.gov.bd.

Students who have secured positions on the merit list will be able to begin the process of subject and college selection starting September 15, according to the notification.

The admission test was held over three shifts on August 22 and 23 across multiple centers, covering three academic units of the proposed university. This year, a total of 72,000 students applied for 11,150 available seats, reflecting intense competition for admission.

The notification also emphasised that the authorities reserve the right to correct any discrepancies or errors found in the published results, including the possibility of revising or canceling results if major irregularities are detected. This clause has been included to ensure transparency and fairness in the admission process.

Dhaka Central University is being formed by integrating seven prominent government colleges in Dhaka, including Dhaka College, Government Titumir College, and Mirpur Bangla College, among others.

The initiative aims to enhance academic standards, streamline administration, and provide a university-level degree under a centralised system.
