Transport workers blocked the road in Mohakhali by parking buses across both lanes on Sunday, causing severe traffic congestion in Mohakhali and surrounding areas.

Authorities from Banani Police Station and the Gulshan Traffic Division said discussions are underway to resolve the situation.

Md. Rasel Sarwar, Officer-in-Charge of Banani Police Station, said a dispute occurred between drivers and workers of Ekata Paribahan and a few students from Titumir College who were assisting the traffic police. Following the incident, senior police officials held a meeting with the transport drivers and workers. During this period, the students reportedly stopped 7–8 buses of Ekata Paribahan, prompting the drivers and workers to block traffic along both sides of the road around 1:30 pm.

The OC added that the transport workers have created obstructions at various points from Mohakhali Rail Gate to Nabisco. Police are currently negotiating with the workers’ leaders and the Titumir College students to defuse the situation.

A post from the Gulshan Traffic Division stated that transport owners and workers have blocked roads on both sides in the Mohakhali Terminal area, and police are present at the scene.

Meanwhile, the road blockage has caused severe traffic jams from Banani to Tejgaon. Commuters are facing extreme hardship under the scorching heat, with many leaving buses to find alternative ways to reach their destinations.
