Kamrul Hasan: “Martyr President Ziaur Rahman called for independence to liberate the nation from oppression and persecution. Responding to his call, freedom-loving people plunged into the Liberation War, and thus Bangladesh was born with the red and green flag. It was he who founded the BNP.”
In continuation of that legacy, BNP’s Acting Chairman Deshnayak Tarique Rahman, with his prudence, foresight, and leadership, has been striving to free the nation from the oppression of autocracy. His relentless efforts to safeguard independence, the Constitution, and democracy are widely acclaimed across the country. Therefore, BNP National Executive Committee Member, former General Secretary of Manikganj BNP, senior member of the district convening committee, and nomination aspirant from Manikganj-1 constituency, SA Jinnah Kabir, has urged everyone to ensure the victory of the sheaf of paddy, the symbol of independence, for the country’s overall development.
He made this call on Wednesday afternoon while addressing as the chief guest at a campaign meeting on BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s 31-point state reform agenda, held at Dhamshwar New Market premises in Daulatpur upazila of Manikganj. The event was organized by union BNP and its affiliated bodies from wards 6, 7, 8, and 9.
The meeting was presided over by Union BNP President Advocate Alek Mia. Among others present were District Jubo Dal Convener Kazi Mostak Hossain Dipu, Ghior Upazila BNP President Mir Manikuzzaman Manik, Upazila BNP President Sirajul Islam, General Secretary Anisur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Habibullah Nomani, District Krishak Dal Senior Vice-President Masudur Rahman Masud, District Swechchhasebak Dal Senior Joint Convener Kazi Nadim Hossain Tuel, District Chhatra Dal Senior Joint General Secretary Zahidul Islam Jihad, Organizing Secretary Shakib Khan Ayon, as well as leaders from district, upazila, union, and ward-level BNP and its affiliated organizations.
Speaking about the upcoming national election, Kabir said, although the interim government has announced that elections will be held in the first half of February, anti-liberation forces are conspiring to thwart it, fearing BNP’s popularity would lead to their downfall. “That is why they are trying to disrupt the polls under the excuse of a so-called ‘PR system’. Such elements have never been and will never be beneficial for the nation,” he added.
He further reminded, “The country is passing through a critical juncture. Holding the election is the only solution and the path of welfare.”
Referring to Manikganj as a traditional stronghold of the BNP, Jinnah expressed hope that all divisions would be set aside, unity would be forged, and public opinion would be mobilized to strengthen organizational capacity and ensure the victory of the sheaf of paddy in every constituency, by implementing Tarique Rahman’s 31-point reform agenda.
He also urged everyone to pray for the speedy recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, as well as for the good health and long life of Tarique Rahman, alongside intensifying party activities.
