Rita Calls for National Welfare through Preservation of Religious Harmony

Kamrul Hasan : Afroza Khanam Rita, Member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council and Convener of Manikganj District BNP, has urged all to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the country while upholding religious harmony, as well as protecting the nation’s independence, constitution, and democracy.

She made the call on Monday night while addressing devotees, party leaders, supporters, visitors, and locals as the chief guest at the inspection of the Gangadharpotri Puja Mandap in Manikganj town, the unveiling of the second edition of “Matrishakti”, and the distribution of gifts sent by BNP’s Acting Chairman, Deshnayak Tarique Rahman.

The program was presided over by Temple Committee President Ratan Majumder. Among others present were Advocate Azad Hossain Khan, Advocate A. F. M. Nurtaaz Alam Bahar PP, Advocate Zahir Alam Khan Lodi, Golam Kibria Saeed, Abdus Salam Badol, Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Habu, President of Manikganj Press Club Jahangir Alam Biswas, Asaduzzaman Khan Dolon, Riaz Mahmud Harej, Advocate Arif Hossain Liton, Upazila BNP Joint General Secretary Advocate Saiful Islam Khan Rimon, District Mohila Dal President Sabiha Habib, District Jubo Dal Joint Conveners Md. Masud Parvez and Md. Mahbubul Alam Ujjal, Municipal Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Shamsuddin Ahmed Babu, Engineer Rakibul Islam Biswas Babu, District Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Advocate Jinnah Khan, District Chhatra Dal President Abdul Khalek Shuvo, General Secretary Sirajur Rahman Khan Sojib, leaders of BNP’s associate bodies, and members of the Puja Celebration Committee.

Afroza Khanam Rita said that the 31-point reform agenda announced by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman serves as a roadmap for ensuring fundamental rights and transforming Bangladesh into a prosperous and developed nation. She added that under his visionary leadership the country was freed from autocracy, and thus everyone must play a leading role in realizing people’s rights.

She remarked, “Safeguarding religious harmony is our moral responsibility. The unity of people of all faiths and communities can strengthen the democracy and independence of our nation.”

Referring to the upcoming national election, she said that the interim government has announced a roadmap for February, but a vested anti-liberation quarter continues to unleash violence in an attempt to foil the polls. She called upon all to build united public opinion to resist these evil forces.

Rita further said that as Manikganj is considered a stronghold of BNP, all differences must be set aside to strengthen the organizational structure and ensure victory for the party’s electoral symbol, Dhaner Shish (the Sheaf of Paddy), in every constituency. Only then, she said, will the dream of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman be fulfilled.

At the end of her speech, she expressed gratitude to devotees, worshippers, and visitors of the Sharadiya Durga Puja, and sought prayers for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and for the good health and long life of Deshnayak Tarique Rahman.

After the program, the chief guest distributed gifts among the underprivileged on behalf of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
