MM Rahmatullah: Bangladesh has reiterated its strong and unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine and their legitimate rights, as the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Yousef S. Y. Ramadan, called on Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Humaiun Kobir on Thursday.

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.

Ambassador Ramadan conveyed his greetings to the State Minister on assuming his new responsibilities. He thanked the Government and people of Bangladesh for their continued and consistent support for the people of Palestine and for the Palestinian cause at all international forums.

In response, State Minister Humaiun Kobir reaffirmed Bangladesh’s principled position on Palestine. He stressed that Bangladesh stands firmly with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for an independent and sovereign state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The State Minister expressed deep concern over Israel’s reported plan to expand settlements in the E1 area of the occupied West Bank. He said such actions are in clear violation of international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and would further undermine prospects for a two-state solution and lasting peace in the region.

Both sides also exchanged views on the ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Palestine in different sectors, including education, health, and trade.

The meeting reflected the longstanding fraternal ties between Bangladesh and Palestine. Bangladesh has consistently supported Palestine’s right to self-determination and statehood since 1971, and continues to advocate for the Palestinian cause at the United Nations and other multilateral platforms.
