CHT adviser for implementing development works in hilly areas

(BSS) - Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma today underscored the need for implementing development works in urban and remote areas of the hilly region.

“It is very crucial for implementing development works in remote areas of the hilly region alongside urban areas,” he said.

The adviser made this comment while addressing as the chief guest at a workshop titled ‘raising expertise on Grievance Redress System (GRS) at Chattogram district council here this morning.

Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry organized the function.

With Additional Secretary of the CHT Affairs Ministry M Manirul Islam in the chair, the workshop was also attended, among others, by CHT Affairs Secretary M Abdul Khaleque, Joint secretaries of the CHT Affairs Ministry Atul Sarker, Kankan Chakma, Rangamati Hill Tracts district council Chairman Krishibid Kajal Talkuder, district council chief executive officer (CEO) Khondoker Mohammad Rezaul Karim and civil surgeon Nuwen Khisa.

Of the 70 percent development work taking place in Sadar upazila, a minimum 30 percent development work must be done at the upazila level, the Adviser said, adding the government should involve the women entrepreneurs for development of the hill tract areas.
