The Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued this warning on Friday evening (May 30), alerting the public to the potential impacts.
According to the bulletin, the land deep depression over Satkhira and surrounding areas has moved further north or northeast. It has gradually weakened into a land depression and then into a well-marked low over Sherpur and adjacent parts of Meghalaya.
As a result, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over the next 24 hours, from 6 pm Friday, in many parts of Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.
The warning further states that this intense rainfall could trigger landslides in hilly regions of Chattogram, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Bandarban, and Cox`s Bazar.
Additionally, parts of Dhaka and Chattogram city may experience temporary waterlogging due to the heavy rain.
