BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said his party urged Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to hold the national election by December this year.
Speaking after a meeting at the Foreign Service Academy on Monday, Salahuddin said that all political parties present demanded elections within this timeframe, claiming that necessary reforms, except constitutional ones, can be completed by then.
The meeting, attended by BNP, Jamaat, and NCP, was part of ongoing dialogue led by the National Consensus Commission to prepare a national reform charter by mid-July.
The consensus commission began the first round of talks on March 20 and continued till May 19.
