  Date : 14-06-2025

National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman on Friday said he hopes the Election Commission will soon announce the date for the upcoming national polls.

Speaking at a press briefing in London after the meeting between Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, he said, “We see no problem regarding the polls date. Both sides mentioned elections in the joint statement.”

He also said that the issues of reforms and trials, including that of Sheikh Hasina, were addressed in the statement, expressing confidence that progress will be made before the election.

Dr Khalilur confirmed both parties were satisfied with the meeting, which lasted from 9:00 am to 10:30 am London time at the Dorchester Hotel. A joint statement was issued afterward.
