The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (June 14) forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds in several parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

In a weather bulletin issued on Saturday morning, the BMD said such rainfall is likely at a few places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy rainfall may also occur in isolated areas during this period, the bulletin added.

Meanwhile, a mild heat wave is currently sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Khulna divisions, as well as parts of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Madaripur, and Kishoreganj districts, with a possibility of abatement, according to BMD meteorologist Dr Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik.

Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The highest temperature recorded on Friday was 38.5°C at Dimla, while the lowest, 24.1°C, was recorded at Bandarban.
