After a 10-day break for Eid-ul-Azha, import and export activities between Bangladesh and India through Dinajpur’s Hili land port resumed on Sunday (June 15).
Port operations were temporarily suspended from June 5 to June 14 due to the Eid-ul-Azha holidays and weekly closures. However, during this period, cross-border travel for passengers holding valid passports and visas continued as usual through the Hili immigration checkpoint.
The resumption of trade was confirmed on Sunday morning by Md Nazmul Hossain, General Secretary of the Hili Land Port Importers and Exporters Group.
He said, “Following the Eid holiday, import and export activities between the two countries resumed through the port this morning. We hope business will regain momentum in the Hili port area.”
Md Abu Taleb, officer-in-charge of the Hili Immigration Checkpost, said that although trade activities through the port were suspended for Eid-ul-Azha, the movement of passport holders remained uninterrupted.
