5 die in Covid-19, 36 hospitalised in 24 Hours

Five people died and 36 other hospitalised from Covid-19 across country in the last 24 hours, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A press release issued in this regard by the DGHS on Sunday (June 22).

During the same period, 621 samples were tested, with a daily positivity rate of 5.80 percent. So far in 2024, a total of 433 Covid-19 cases and 16 deaths have been reported.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has recorded 2,051,978 cases and 29,515 deaths. In total, 15,729,284 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in Bangladesh.

The overall recovery rate stands at 98.41 percent, while the fatality rate is 1.44 percent. The overall positivity rate is 13.05 percent.

Among the five latest deceased, four died at government hospitals and one at a private facility. The deceased included one person aged between 11–20, one between 41–50, one between 61–70, one between 71–80, and one between 91–100 years.

By region, one death was reported in Dhaka division, three in Chattogram, and one in Rajshahi.

The first Covid-19 cases in the country were detected on March 8, 2020. The first death from the virus was reported on March 18 that year.
