Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the interim government on the Ministries of Water Resources and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has said that the Teesta master plan will be finalized by the end of this year, with the groundwork already completed.
She made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists at Syedpur Airport in Nilphamari on Tuesday morning (July 15).
She further stated that the Teesta master plan is essentially a matter between China and Bangladesh, and decisions will require the consent of both countries. “In recent months, we have made significant progress toward implementing the Teesta master plan. On July 17, final discussions will be held with experts on five key issues. After that, the proposal will be submitted to the government, then finalised through the Economic Relations Division (ERD) before being forwarded to the Chinese authorities. Once a detailed report is submitted, implementation will begin,” she added.
Later, Adviser Rizwana Hasan departed for Kurigram by road. Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner Md Nayiruzzaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui, and various officials from the concerned departments were present at the airport.
