Suspicion over NCP visit to Cox’s Bazar: Rizvi
  Date : 13-08-2025

Online Report : BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has urged the National Citizens` Party (NCP) to maintain transparency following its recent visit to Cox’s Bazar, which he said has sparked public concern due to its lack of disclosure.

Speaking to journalists after visiting the family of Masuma Begum — a victim of the recent fighter jet crash near Milestone School and College in Diabari, Uttara — Rizvi said, “No one is questioning the right to travel or engage with diplomatic representatives. But the secrecy surrounding this trip has raised legitimate questions. Why not make such activities public?”

He emphasized that individuals and parties involved in the recent democratic movement bear a greater responsibility to act openly. “When leaders who emerged from a pro-democracy struggle operate behind closed doors, it fuels suspicion. Transparency is essential to maintain public trust,” he said.

Rizvi warned that opaque actions could give rise to conspiracy theories and ultimately undermine the credibility of the broader democratic transition.

On the upcoming national election, Rizvi noted that the interim government had already responded to public demand by holding a parliamentary election in February. “Now that the Chief Adviser has formally communicated with the Election Commission, preparations are moving forward,” he said. “The people expect a fair, neutral, and transparent election — and the BNP is committed to cooperating in that process.”

Rizvi was accompanied by members of the ‘We Are BNP Family’ platform, including advisers Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul and Abul Kashem, Member Secretary Agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, and activists Masud Rana Liton, Mustakim Billah, Shakil Ahmed, and Farhad Ali Sajib.
