No alliance, but will seek electoral understanding: Jamaat amir
  Date : 05-11-2025

Jamaat-e-Islami amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that the party has not decided to form any alliance and will not do so. However, he said the party would seek an electoral understanding with like-minded parties.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday (5 November) morning at Sylhet Osmani International Airport, Shafiqur Rahman warned that failure to hold elections could lead to various forms of disorder. “Therefore, we will work together to ensure elections are held in February,” he added. He also reiterated Jamaat’s previous stance on holding a referendum.

Shafiqur Rahman arrived in Sylhet on Wednesday morning for a two-day organisational tour, after being elected Jamaat-e-Islami Amir for a third term. Party leaders and activists welcomed him at the airport.
