BNP Leader Shot Dead in Dhaka

Kamrul Ahsan Sadhan, Joint General Secretary of Gulshan Thana BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party), was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in the Gudara Ghat area of Middle Badda, Dhaka, early Monday morning.

The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, May 25, 2025, near the residence of former Commissioner Qayyum in Gudara Ghat. Badda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam confirmed Sadhan`s death, stating, "The incident is true. He is BNP leader Sadhan. We are at the scene. We do not yet know who or why this was done. Our forces are working to investigate this matter."

Neither the police nor Sadhan`s relatives have been able to definitively identify the attackers. According to Ismail Hossain, the victim`s nephew-in-law, who cited eyewitnesses, two masked shooters fired indiscriminately before fleeing the scene.

Sadhan was reportedly sitting at a tea stall opposite the office of former Commissioner Qayyum on Gudara Ghat Road No. 4, drinking tea with several others, including BNP leader Qayyum`s nephew Kamrul. Two individuals suddenly appeared, wearing masks, and opened fire indiscriminately. Sadhan collapsed at the scene. The assailants then fired blank shots as they escaped.

Sadhan was rushed in a bloody condition to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, where he was declared dead by the on-duty doctor. He sustained gunshot wounds to his right and left chest, back, and neck.
