  Govt approves Tk 232cr budget for parliament secretariat

The Parliament Secretariat Commission has approved a Tk 232 crore budget for the operational and development activities of the Bangladesh Parliament for the upcoming 2025-26 fiscal year.

The approval came during the 36th meeting of the Commission held at the National Parliament Complex on Tuesday, with Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul presiding over the session.

According to an official press release, the revised budget for the current FY2024-25 stands at Tk 154.04 crore. The Commission also projected future budgets of Tk 243.60 crore for FY2026-27 and Tk 255.78 crore for FY2027-28, indicating a steady rise in allocations over the next few years.

The meeting began with a review of the decisions taken during the Commission`s 35th meeting, along with an assessment of the implementation progress of those decisions.

In addition, the session discussed updates on ongoing development projects under the Parliament Secretariat.

Among others, Public Administration Senior Secretary Md Mokhles ur Rahman, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Hafiz Ahmed, and Finance Secretary Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder attended the meeting.

Parliament Secretariat Secretary Md Mizanur Rahman placed the meeting’s agenda before the Commission.
