Metro service resumes with special advisory on meat transport
  Date : 09-06-2025

Following a one-day suspension of service for Eid-ul-Azha, metro rail operations resumed Sunday, with trains running from 8:30 AM onward, allowing residents of the capital to once again utilize the service.

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) confirmed the resumption of service in an official notice issued on Sunday.

However, metro users are being reminded of a strict advisory related to the Eid festivities. According to DMTCL, passengers are prohibited from carrying sacrificial animal hides or both raw and cooked meat onto metro trains.

To enforce this regulation, security screenings at all metro station entrances have been heightened. Passengers found carrying meat or animal hides will not be allowed to enter the metro system, the notice warned.

While service resumed today, trains will operate at 30-minute intervals throughout the day. Regular service schedules are expected to return from Monday, following the usual public holiday timetable.

Officials noted that although many residents have left the capital for Eid, partial metro service is being provided to accommodate those remaining in Dhaka.
