Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, paid a courtesy visit to President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Sunday, reaffirming strong bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Bhutan.

In a meeting marked by warmth and mutual respect, President Shahabuddin welcomed the Bhutanese leader and expressed confidence that the friendly relations between the two nations would grow stronger in the years ahead.

He emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, hydropower, education, and healthcare. The President also highlighted Bangladesh’s commitment to regional collaboration and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Tobgay thanked Bangladesh for its support in expanding educational opportunities for Bhutanese students. He specifically appreciated the increased allocation of seats in Bangladeshi medical colleges and reserved admissions in engineering universities, calling it a meaningful step in strengthening people-to-people connections.

The Bhutanese leader praised Bangladesh’s impressive development trajectory, citing advancements in infrastructure, digital transformation, and socioeconomic progress. “Bangladesh’s journey is both inspiring and instructive,” he said, expressing optimism that bilateral relations would continue to flourish.
