  Mohammedan maintain winning run with massive victory

Ten-men Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited maintained their winning run in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football crushing Chittagong Abahani Limited by 5-1 goals held at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Saturday.

In the proceeding, forward Sourav Dewan scored a brace while Burkinab, defender Mounzir Coulidiati and Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanu supported him with a lone goal each for Mohammedan in the one-sided affairs. Substitute midfielder Imtiaz Sultan Jitu scored a lone goal for Chittagong Ahahani Limited.


Things were all went favorable for Chittagong Abahani as they fought neck to neck with Mohammedan till the first half making the score sheet clean, but the scenario dramatically changed after the resumption as Mohammedan came out from its own form and showed their class to register their sixth straight victories in the league.

After the barren first half, Coulidiati finally broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Mohammedan in the 47th minute while Sunday doubled the lead scoring the second goal in the 55th minute of the match.

Sourav Dewan further widened the margin scoring the third goal for Mohammedan in the 63rd minute while Mohammedan took 4-0 lead through a suicidal goal scored by Selim Reza of Chittagong Abahani in the 85th minute.

Sourav Dewan made the score line 5-0 scoring his second and fifth for Mohammedan in the 90th minute while Imtiaz Sultan Jitu scored a consolation goal for Chittagong Abahani in the 90+5th minute from a spot kick.

Mohammedan completely dominated the proceeding, especially in the second half and notched their emphatic win on the day while Chittagong Abahani Limited were totally off-colored except the day`s lone goal.

Mohammedan`s defender Shakil Ahad Topu was shown red card by the referee following double yellow cards in the match.

The day`s win saw Mohammedan maintained their all-win run in the league with 198 points from six matches while all losers Chittagong Abahani Limited failed to open their account playing the same number of matches.

Mohammedan will play their next league match against Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society on January 10 while Chittagong Ahahani Limited will play against Abahani Limited Dhaka on January 11.

Earlier, Mohammedan beat Dhaka Wanderer Club 6-0 and edged past Bashundhara Kings and Abahani Limited Dhaka by an identical margin of 1-0 goal, defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club by 3-1 goals and beat Fortis Football Club by 1-0 goal.

The port city team Chittagong Abahani earlier suffered 0-7 to Bashundhara Kings, lost their remaining three matches against Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society, Brothers Union Club and Fakirerpool Young Men`s Club by an identical margin of 2-0 goals and suffered 1-0 defeat to Dhaka Wanderers Club.
