2 child drown in Lakshmipur pond

Two children drowned after falling in a pond while playing in Lakshmipur sadar upazila on Thursday.

The incident took place at Banchanagar area under the upazila municipality.

The deceased were identified as Nadim, 8, son of Mohon from wrad no. 3 of the municipality and Jihad, 6, son of Jakir Hossain from Keroya union in the upazila. The duo were cousins in relation.

According to police and relatives of the deceased, they were missing from 3 PM while playing in front of their house. After searching for several hours, family members found their bodies floating on a nearby pond.

They rescued the bodies and took to Lakshmipur General Hospital, where residential medical officer Dr. Arup Paul declared them dead.

Lakshmipur Sadar Police station officer-in-charge (OC) confirmed the incident and said that no complaint have been filed yet.
