The poor condition of many roads in Chalanbeel has created public suffering
  Date : 22-05-2025

Mirza Abdur Rob Bulbul, Staff Reporter: Chalanbeel is formed by rivers, canals and canals. The historical Chalanbeel of Bangladesh is well-known to the people of the whole country as a storehouse of grain and fish. From ancient times to the present time, most of the roads and Ghats in the Chalanbeel area have been neglected and backward. The historical Chalanbeel of Bangladesh is well-known to everyone as a flood-hit area. Most of the roads and Ghats in this area are still unpaved. At one time, only one crop, Aman rice, was cultivated in this area, but with the passage of time, with the touch of modernity, various types of rice, wheat, corn and mustard, including various major crops, have been cultivated. This has led to considerable improvement in the agricultural sector. The 9 Upazilas of the Chalanbeel area are Tarash, Ullapara, Shahjadpur, Faridpur, Bhangura, Chatmohar, Gurudaspur, Singra and Atrai. It is a matter of great regret that the roads and Ghats in this area have not been very good since ancient times. Even then, the farmers have been facing extreme hardship due to the poor condition of many roads and Ghats in all the Upazilas of the Chalanbeel area, which is visible in the picture. In most places, when there is a little rain, the roads become waterlogged and slippery, and the general public has to face a lot of trouble walking on foot, and vehicles for transporting any kind of goods have become unusable. Most of the common people in this area have to depend on ox or buffalo carts to sell their products. Due to the continuous rains this year, many small and large potholes have been created in most places on the road. Even with moderate rain, these potholes accumulate water day after day, making them unusable. It is very difficult to move on foot, let alone move normally on the road. These area-based roads and Ghats are of great importance. The school-going students, sick patients and the elderly of the area face the most hardship. For ages, these rural dirt roads have been neglected due to lack of paving, which no one can see. The Iri-Boro paddy, corn harvesting and threshing season has started in this area for the past one month. Due to such a poor condition of the roads, thousands of farmers in these areas are frustrated that they are not able to market their rice and corn and other rabi crops properly during the full season of Iri-Boro paddy and corn threshing. As a result, they will face huge losses. When we went to the spot to find out the information, the local residents and women workers working on the roads expressed their sorrow and anger with deep concern to this reporter. Besides, they are being deprived of the fair price of their crops, due to the poor condition of the roads, the common people of various professions are finding it difficult to go to their respective destinations on foot. Due to the poor condition of the roads, the transport costs of traders to get their goods delivered are high, which burdens the common farmers with the mentioned costs. Considering the plight of the people of this area, the high-ranking officials of the concerned government departments have been called upon to speed up the development work of these roads. When contacted in this regard, the officials of the respective departments of all the Upazilas of the Chalanbeel area said that they would do the road work quickly if they get the allocation from the government. This reporter assured that.
