Remittance in Bangladesh has continued to show positive growth breaking all previous records From July 2024 to May 2025.
During this 11-month period, remittance inflow stood at $27.51 billion, marking a 28.70 percent increase compared to the same period last year. In July-May 2023-24, remittance was $21.37 billion, according to Bangladesh Bank data on Sunday (June 1).
According to the data, no single year has ever seen such a high amount of remittance. In the 2020-21 fiscal year, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, many expatriates returned home, while those who could not still sent their savings. That year, remittance reached $24.78 billion. In 2023-24, it stood at $23.91 billion.
This year’s 11-month total of $27.51 billion has surpassed all previous records.
In May alone, remittance continued to rise, reaching $2.75 billion, which is 31.70 percent higher than May last year when it was $2.25 billion.
The highest monthly remittance this fiscal year was recorded in March, with $3.30 billion—the largest monthly inflow to date.
