Over 130 CU students injured, 2 in ICU

More than 130 students of Chittagong University (CU) have received treatment at various hospitals following violent clashes with locals, with two currently in intensive care unit (ICU) and another under close observation in a hospital ward.

One of the ICU patients has been identified as Naimur Rahman, a student of Islamic Studies department, who is currently receiving treatment at National Hospital.

Another critically injured student is being treated in ICU at Park View Hospital, though his identity has not yet been confirmed.

Additionally, a student named Palash is under intensive observation at a ward in Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

From Saturday night through Sunday, a total of 135 students sought medical care at CMCH, National Hospital and Park View Hospital, according to hospital authorities.

Most students were admitted with serious injuries, including head trauma, eye injuries and deep cuts. Many arrived at hospitals bleeding and showing signs of assault.

CMCH police outpost in charge Md. Alauddin reported that 30 students received treatment at CMCH on Saturday and another 80 by Sunday evening.

Among them, 22 are currently admitted. Park View Hospital treated 24 students, while one remains in ICU at National Hospital.

Dr. Fazle Rabbi, Director of Health for Chattogram Division, confirmed the severity of the injuries, stating, "Some students suffered fractured arms, others had head wounds. I spent the entire day ensuring proper treatment. Except for 2–3 critical cases, most are now out of danger."
