A youth was killed after being hit by a bridge`s obstacle under Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong on Saturday.

The accident took place around 4:00 PM on Kalurghat bridge in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Asif, 19, son of Sher Mi, resident Aklia area of Tulatul village under popadia union of the upazila. He was a student of 12 grade from Sir Asutosh Government College.

According to locals, Asif was standing over a pickup truck coming from the city and suddenly a high barrier hit his head, leaving him seriously injured on the spot.

Later, locals rescued him from the spot and took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
